Our goal is to cultivate South Asian cultural awareness by preserving and promoting Indian languages, dance, music, and art.
The South Asian Australian Association Incorporated established our schools to promote South Asian cultural awareness by preserving and advancing Indian languages, dance, music, and art. Our Hindi School caters to children from non-Hindi backgrounds, offering separate classes that have been highly successful. Many of our students are learning Hindi for the first time, despite no exposure at home or in other educational settings. Our mission is to provide quality education to children aged 5 to 16, helping them develop the ability to read, write, speak, and understand Hindi. We also offer Hindi lessons for adults, with several regularly attending classes. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality education in native languages.
Class sizes will be capped at 20 students. There will be seven levels of classes, tailored to student ability. During the first lesson, students will be assessed on their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills to ensure proper placement in the appropriate ability group within their class. Students from non-Hindi backgrounds will receive special attention, with separate classes for listening and speaking. Our teaching strategies include one-on-one assistance, small group learning, collaboration, and peer learning.
SAAA Hindi School Kogarah was established to meet the needs of first- and second-generation migrants in the St George area of New South Wales, Australia. Similarly, the Indian School Parramatta was created to serve the needs of the Western Suburbs of Sydney.
Children of first-generation migrants often speak their parents' first language during early childhood, but as they enter the Australian school system, they may lose confidence in using their native language. The lack of structured Hindi language education further limits their ability to develop or maintain their mother tongue or second language.
